Terms of use
The agreement between you and Yani, in plain English: how the trial and passes work, what fair use means, and what we promise each other.

Draft – pending legal review. This is a plain-English draft. It may change before Yani launches publicly.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Yani (company name pending) (“Yani”, “we”, “us”), which runs Yani at yani.study. By creating an account or buying a pass, you agree to them. Our privacy policy and refund policy are part of them too.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over, or have a parent's or guardian's permission. You must be 18 or over to buy a pass.
- One account is for one person. Please don't share it.
- Keep access to your email safe: it's how you sign in. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
The free trial
- Every new account gets 7 days of full access, starting when you sign up. We don't ask for payment details.
- The trial ends on its own. Nothing is charged, and nothing needs cancelling.
- One free trial per person.
- Your progress stays saved, ready for when you buy a pass.
Passes
After the trial, a pass gives you full access to Yani for a fixed time:
- Monthly: AED 39 for one month.
- Annual: AED 299 for twelve months.
- Founding: AED 199 for twelve months, for our first 100 members. Renew within 30 days of your pass ending and the next twelve months stay at AED 199, however our prices change.
- You pay once, through Ziina. A pass starts as soon as your payment is confirmed. A month means one calendar month.
- Passes never renew automatically. 3 days before yours ends, we'll remind you by email and in the app, with a link to renew if you want to.
- If you buy a new pass before your current one ends, it starts when the current one ends, so you never lose days.
- Prices are in UAE dirhams and include any VAT that applies. If our prices change, the change never affects a pass you've already bought.
Refunds
Ask within 14 days of buying a pass and we'll refund it in full. The refund policy has the details.
Fair use
Yani is for your own, personal learning. Please don't:
- share your account, or sell or give away access to it;
- copy, download in bulk, scrape or republish Yani's lessons, audio or app, beyond what an open licence on the credits page allows;
- use bots or other automated tools on the service;
- try to break, overload or get around Yani's security or limits;
- post anything hateful, harassing, sexual or illegal in a Majlis group or anywhere else in Yani, or use Yani to bother other people;
- use Yani for anything unlawful.
If someone breaks these rules, we may limit features or suspend the account. For serious or repeated breaches, we may close it. We'll tell you why, unless the law stops us. If we close an account because these terms were broken, we may not refund the unused part of a pass.
Our content, and yours
The Yani app, its design, and the lessons and recordings we create belong to Yani (company name pending) or the people who licensed them to us. Some content comes from public-domain or openly licensed sources; those parts stay under their own licences, listed on the credits page.
What you write in Yani (such as a Majlis name or a message to us) stays yours. You let us use it only to run Yani.
Learning, not guarantees
Every phrase you study comes from a native Emirati recording, but dialect varies between families, emirates and generations, and we can't promise a level of fluency. Yani is a learning aid, not a translation or interpreting service. Please don't rely on it for medical, legal or safety-critical conversations.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Yani available, but it may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We'll keep improving Yani, which means features may change. If a change takes away something important that your pass included, tell us and we'll refund the unused part.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that UAE law doesn't allow us to limit. Otherwise, we're not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the issue.
Ending
You can stop using Yani at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may stop offering Yani; if we do, we'll give you notice and refund the unused part of any pass.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Yani and we'll refund the unused part of your pass.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first and we'll try to put it right. If we can't, the courts of the UAE can decide.
