Questions from clinics

Is this medical training?

No. Yani teaches the language your patients speak. For consent, diagnosis and anything clinical, follow your workplace's interpreter policy.

Where do the clinic phrases come from?

Most come from a medical language course the US Defense Language Institute recorded with native Emirati speakers. It's public domain, and every phrase is credited.

What about patients who are women, or families?

Many clinic phrases change for a woman or a group. For now your lessons use the form the native speaker recorded, usually the one for a man, and the other forms open as Emirati reviewers approve them.

Can I start with the clinic phrases?

Yes. When you start, choose “At the doctor” and “At the pharmacy”, and your path puts them first.

Try it on your next shift.

A few minutes between patients is enough. If it isn't for you, don't buy a pass, and that's the end of it.
